Frank Lampard’s three goals for Manchester City this season has seen the midfielder surpass team-mate Sergio Aguero and Chelsea star Diego Costa as the player with the best strike rate in the Premier League.
Taking into account the players in the English top-flight who have netted at least three times this term, a new statistic produced by Sky Sports shows how impressive Lampard has been since joining up with Manuel Pellegrini’s side on a short-term loan move from New York City in the summer.
The 36-year-old has scored three times in the league so far – in the 1-1 draw against his former side Chelsea, in City’s 4-2 win over Hull and more recently in the team’s 3-0 victory against Southampton on Sunday.
And those goals have seen Lampard overtake Aguero and Costa as the player with the best strike rate in the league – as he nets once every 68 minutes.
Top scorer Aguero, who has netted 12 times for City this season, scores every 81 minutes while Costa’s 11 strikes for Chelsea this term means he nets a goal every 83 minutes.
