Gervinho: I would beat Bolt with the ball at my feet

The former Arsenal forward, now enjoying a new lease of life at Roma in Serie A, jokes that he could best the Jamaican sprint star for pace if running while dribbling
Roma attacker Gervinho jests that he would beat 100- and 200-metre world-record holder Usain Bolt with the ball at his feet.

The Ivory Coast international netted twice in Roma’s 3-2 Coppa Italia semi-final win over Napoli on Wednesday and he was over the moon with his side’s hard-fought first-leg victory.

“I would beat him [Bolt] with the ball at my feet. Without the ball, he would be quicker,” Gervinho joked to Rai Sport.

“We started pretty well but were pushed back by Napoli after the break. Napoli’s early goal in the second half hurt us but we had the will and courage to fight back.

“It was a great feeling to score the winner and celebrate with my team-mates and the fans.

“It was very important to eventually take a win from this first leg. We are now one step closer to the final but Napoli should not be underestimated.”

The return takes place at the Stadio San Paolo on February 12.
