Hulk reveals why he wouldn’t join teams like Chelsea or Real Madrid

The 28-year-old wide forward was heavily linked with the Blues, amongst others, in the past and enjoyed a fantastic spell at Porto between 2008 and 2012, winning Portugal’s footballer of the year award twice.

He surprised many when moving to the Russian club two years ago, and has gone on to become a key man at the St Petersburg outfit.

But when asked about his choice of club, the Brazilian told Globo Esporte: ‘I know some clubs bring a lot of attention and hype on the ones playing for them, but my priority is being happy, and being happy means getting to be regularly on the pitch for me.

‘Joining Chelsea or Real Madrid would make no sense for me, since I’d risk to be benched a lot there, and I know there will always be clubs interested in signing me.’

Perhaps a slightly smaller Premier League club who could guarantee the explosive player first team football may have a chance of luring him in the future…
