MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to reject a January offer for Spanish international Juan Mata.
According to Italian reports, Juventus are readying a lucrative offer in the region of £18million to lure Mata away from Old Trafford.
United had been expected to rid themselves of the midfield playmaker, however his resurgence in form and professionalism have made him an integral component of Louis van Gaal’s squad.
The 26-year-old has netted five goals, with a further three assists in the Premier League and proved that he can be a permanent fixture for years to come.
Mata has repeatedly affirmed his allegiance to the Manchester club, and even described playing alongside captain Wayne Rooney as a privilege.
He said: “He can defend, he can attack, he can pass and he can score goals arriving into the box.
“For us, he is a very important player and I feel privileged to play with such a player as Wazza.”
Juventus are running out of attacking alternatives with Wesley Sneijder close to agreeing a new deal with Galatasaray, and Atletico Madrid winning the battle for Xherdan Shaqiri.
