Brendan Rodgers expects Divock Origi to remain with Lille on loan despite interest to bring him back to Liverpool early.
The striker joined in a £10 million move during the summer but was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit for the remainder of the season.
Rodgers was reportedly keen to cut the loan short following Daniel Sturridge’s latest injury setback, but the manager insists the return to France was part of the purchase agreement.
“[Origi is] a young player we signed last summer. [The deal] was on the agreement that he had to stay at Lille,” Rodgers told a media conference on Friday.
“That was one of the main reasons we were able to sign him. As far as I’m concerned, that’s still the case.”
Origi has netted five times in 16 appearances in all competitions for Lille, who currently languish in 14th in Ligue 1.
